I'm afraid you aren't getting RAID then. The only thing cheaper than that Adaptec is a softRAID controller. None of these controllers are compatible with any Linux OS. Linux treats softraid controllers as a SATA interface and uses the "RAID" configuration to auto configure LVM, the software RAID component in the linux kernel. UT lacks LVM outright, so you are suck with a true RAID controller, or nothing...

Unless you want to try your hand at an Ubuntu or Debian based install.
