Hi,

Kinda interested in how this works as some internal web services I am trialling with this do not work.

It appears that it's trying to incorporate/encapsulate the original website code within the page from what I see on screen (haven't delved into source yet) why is it done this way? What limitations stop you from displaying a frame with the frames 'target url' specified as the url in the bookmark configuration?

Cheers

GD

What exactly isn't working? Can you post a screen shot of what you are getting and then explain what you were expecting?

A screenshot wouldn't help.

I configured a bookmark as a web proxy item and pointed it at an internal web site.

When viewing this website via clicking it's bookmark in the portal nothing is displayed, however other websites do work.

I 'think' it has trouble with purely server side scripted web pages such as DLL netapps, but it appears to work well with pure html and some dhtml as elements appear to be parsed correctly and function as expected.

It could just be a name resolution problem too. Try creating a DNS mapping to the internal site.

Where? the internal site has a FQDN on our domain but regardless of whether I use FQDN, IP, or hostname it doesn't work.

I have the same problem but mine says "forbidden" when I try to access it through the portal. However when I try to access it from the internet or intranet they work fine.

Scotte30m3,

Please be more specific. Someone earlier this week growled about use of the word "it" and he did have a point. It obscures the meaning of what you try to describe. If we can know more, we may be able to help.

I appologize for not being specific enough . Here is some more information:

I create a web proxy book mark in the portal. When I click on the bookmark a new page opens but say...

"Access to the specified resource (Cannot Proxy to Untangle Server) has been forbidden."

Maybe there is something I forgetting to configure in untangle some where?

Thanks and I will be more specific next time. :mdh:

Just a guess on this one. . . I wonder if you have to open up port 80, through the remote admin button under config, do allow http access to Untangle from the inside. . .
Just want to see if that fixes it:)

Forgive me for bringing up an old thread, but I searched the forums and this is the only thread I found that is dealing with this issue. When I setup the Web Proxy in the Remote Access Portal to go to our internal Intranet http://stranginternal/ the page won't load because it's trying to resolve using the external DNS settings. If I change the Web Proxy to the internal IP Address of stranginternal then the page loads.

Where can I tell Untangle to use the internal DNS for resolving internal hostnames?
