Hello Everyone
This might be along feedback but I thought I write down my little success
story with untangle
Frist time I stumbled over untangle was as I downloaded Endian. There was an
Add blinking promising be the best and full-fledged protection on opensource.
I usually disregard such adds but this time I thought I give it a try because
Ipcop, smoothwall and Endian didnt satisfy me. Dont missunderstand me,
those 3 solutions are great but not what I was looking for.
After downloading untangle I changed my hd in the pc where Endian was
running. After it would start installing, the hardware requirements started to
be interessting. After that I had to manage to give my old P4 1,7ghz more
RAM. Managed to give him 384RAM not more. Apperently I read in the Forum
someone managed to install untangle with the same amount, so next try.
But.... :( So, what can I do now. My NAS which runs on a 2.2ghz, 1ghz Ram
and 5.160gb hds had to going down. It doesnt mather because CPU and RAM
were to much for oversized the NAS. After the change of the hardware,
untangle was willing to install itself :worship: So configuration was at hand.
After I was done I tried several things to get it running and somehow it wasnt
working properly. Frustrated with the achievement, I truned off the untangle
machine and pluged the Endian HD in.
After 1 or 2 weeks I bought a server rack for about 5bugs which was nearly
new  . So I thought I give untangle an other try and installed it
again. This time the networkcables for my internal, external and dmz were
pluged in form the beginning. Well what shall I say ...... it worked. Installed all
opensource packages and today I configured openvpn. Even that was very
easy now. The only problem I am facing right now is why it timesout after the
login when I try to delete something on my NAS through openvpn.
My friend which is very picky about designs was surprised about untangle and
said, this is what someone should do instead of the boring stuff we have
everywhere.
In the End I like to say, macht weiter so, bemüht Euch und hoffentlich werden
die nächsten Kandidaten genau so gut wie 5.0.3
