I have been trying to set up an untangle server on MS Virtual server R2 SP1

it will install properly, but during boot it hangs just before the bar finishes going across the screen

i am aware it works in vmware, but my normal virtual enviroment is MS

Thanks in advance for any input.

I am available and willing to try any suggestions

I have found the same problem with MS Virtual Server R2 SP1.

Untangle will hang near the end of the loading bar. If I ESC or TAB or whatever keystroke it was to clear the splash screen I can see that it is hanging during the load of the UVM service.

I will have to give this software another try when my VMWare ESX server arrives.

According to the doc's:

Virtual Server supports the following guest operating systems:

Any 32-bit version of the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 operating systems, except Datacenter Edition
Any Microsoft Windows 2000 Server operating system, except Datacenter Edition
Microsoft Windows NTŪ Server 4.0 with Service Pack 6a (SP6a)

No mention of any 'nix flavors

Me too. I am using MS Virtual Server R2 SP1 and Untangle hangs on installation.

Using VMWare Server and works great.

A dealer was explaining that there is a VM flavour of Untangle. I am unable to confirm this, looking through this site. Does anyone know if this is the case?

We don't have 5.0.3 VMware pre-configured appliance on the web site, but 5.0.2 is. Here's the link:

http://downloads.sourceforge.net/untangle/untangle_502_vmware.zip

You can download the 5.0.3 ISO, burn it to CD and install it inside VMware, but you'll need to do configuration on it. That link is:

By the way.....welcome!
