Hi all. Just like to say hi and how great the untangle product is before i start with my problem.

I have untangle sever runing on a Dell gx50 (1ghz processor half gb ram, 40gb disk) I am running web filter, protocol blocker and spyware blocker at the moment and its working great. I have added the Open vpn service and configured it as a server. When i turn the Open vpn service on it stops and web traffic going through the box. I can plug into the router at the other side of the untangle box and it works fine. Is my machine just not high spec enough for this ??. The machine responds as normal. The netwo has around 40 to 50 machine on it but prob no more than 20 people at any one time

Any help appreciated

Hi PaulCcheyne,

PC is fine. What are the settings that you set on OpenVPN?

If turning on OpenVPN stops the flow of traffic it is almost certainly due to OpenVPN's settings. If your network address pool is part of your internal network this will happen (they need to be seperate). If not, it will route all traffic destined to the internal network to the VPN interface preventing any communication back to the internal network.

We should add this to the FAQ - it seems to be a common issue.

Very good point dmorris! When you add the network on the address pool, make sure to use a different internal IP addressing. Example, if your current inside IP address is in the 192.168.1.x, you could use the 172.16.16.x
Please check out the screenshot:
Add at least one address pool as shown in Figure, Adding an Address Pool for Remote Employees, and click the Next button.
Untangle Client provides a default IP address for the address pool. Accept the default.
Add more than one address pool is if you plan to configure policies, as described in Policy Management. Normal installations only need one address pool.
Each address pool describes a range of addresses, expressed in address and netmask syntax.
