Japanese Vehicles

I identify that Japan is pretty much populated by bicycles, but my girl friend told me that when he saw a car it was almost always packed together and boxy! Has anyone else noticed this?

All the while ignoring the fact that most "Japanese" vehicles in the US market... are made in the US. Or Canada by well-paid non-union American workers, thus the source of their "desperation" .
