So how do we get this download? I've been dying to try a proxy setup that will allow us to just point a browser to a proxy for the scanning. This eliminates any possible disruptions as the only web filtering and scanning that gets done will be from the people with browsers that point to the PROXY for access...

I'd love a Beta right now if possible. =)

thanks,
Joey.

We can put you on the beta list.

However, the proxy setup won't be a 4.2 beta feature.
What I would do is simply put an explicit proxy off to the side of your network and place the untangle server right in front of it as a bridge.

The tell the untangle server to map the socks5 traffic to 'No rack' so it isn't processed on the way in, but is processed on the way out.

hmmm.... you could also do this in VMWare...

That would be perfect as soon as the debian compilation tools with command line access - or have the tools pre-installed in the appliance and have a check box asking if this is a VMware instance. Then your installation script could install and enable the tools behind the scenes if you do not want to open up general access to the shell.

;)

There will be general access to the shell in the 5.0 release. :D

We originally didn't have it because it isn't need for the traditional appliance, but with the software download it makes sense...
