Hey guys, I'm new to Untangle and I gotta say this is good stuff!!!
Does anyone know if there is a way to block a connection (preferably by MAC) if they access a blocked protocol a certain number of times? For example if someone tries to access Bittorent protocol 10 times within 5mins it will block there mac address from connecting to anything for maybe 6hrs or until I unblock?

Its all or nothing. In the case of BitTorrent, 10 times would occur in about 7 seconds anyway.

I see, I guess I need to think about it some more.
I guess ultimatly what I want to acomplish is that I dont care that they are using p2p but when is comes to hogging up all my bandwidth then we have a problem. Usually once I notice someone abusing there connection regardless what they are doing, I block there mac address for a good 48hrs.
Maybe bandwidth throttling is more what I need. Any insight on if or when UT gets bandwidth throttling? Thanks

I think "Attack Blocker" might help.

More advanced QoS will likely be available in future releases. I think you will care if they are using p2p...one user can take out a DSL line. Three users can shut down a company.
