There is currently an issue (version 5.0.2) with Spam Blocker that is characterized as follows:
1. Spam Blocker is passing all spam
2. Obvious spam messages are scored at 0.0
3. The Spam Blocker display is flat-lined.
In a nutshell, the underlying process in the Spam Blocker (spamassassin) stops processing spams and allows all to pass. The corrective measures have been to reboot the Untangle server, which causes a 5-10 disruption in all network services. It can also be remedied at the Linux command line, as follows:
*** WARNING ***
If you are not familiar with the Linux command line, just reboot the box.
*** PROCEDURE ***
THIS REQUIRES TERMINAL/SSH ACCESS
1. From the Untangle client, turn off the Spam Blocker module.
2. On the Untangle server, access the TERMINAL and enter your root password. If you have not been at terminal mode before, you will be initializing your password. DON'T FORGET IT! If you have been at terminal mode before, you can use ssh from a remote machine.
3. At the command line, type: /etc/init.d/spamassassin stop and press <enter>
4. Exit terminal mode
5. Wait a moment, then return to the Untangle interface and turn on Spam Blocker.
This is a temporary measure until it is corrected by a new build. The problem may reoccur, but can be dealt with using this procedure.
