I'm thinking about trying Untangle.
Can Untangle be used with a 2-way internet connected network? What I mean is that I want to configure my network with an cable internet connection for surfing (for example) and use an SDSL connection (on the same Untangle server) for VPN and receiving/sending mail. Is this possible  ?

The untangle server itself doesn't yet support dual upstream WAN links (although this is currently scheduled in 5.2 currently, which is coming in December)
Currently, people with this configuration just install their untangle server as a bridge behind whatever device they are currently using to do their failover.
(out of curiousity, what are you using to do this?)

Untangle might actually work if he doesn't want Bandwidth Sharing. If you just want to route the VPN traffic, why not just use the DMZ side of it? Run another Untangle server. We have a similar setup here, only with multiple T1's, T3's, Cable, DSL, etc.. They all go into one main router then we have a VPN solution that uses an entirely different setup, it goes through its own router and we just have a status route that points the VPN (Juniper) to the local network and thats it.. If I were you, I'd just be patient for a couple months and for the time being, just get something cheap like a "HotBrick" router/firewall that supports DualWan and then use Untangle to filter behind that. Your VPN Device can sit off of a DMZ in untangle as not to be filtered. This make sense? Might post a Visio diagram of what you want to do maybe, and then we could help better. But untangle is well worth waiting for in my opinion. The devices we've used in the past are expensive to do stuff like that and just not worth the money as most have licensing based on user count. I don't believe the HotBrick does and its like a little over $200. But this is more for just DualWan bandwidth sharing to get both internet connections on the same path. Also not sure what you're utilizing the VPN solution for, but might have a better option for that as well. Lots of places don't need a true VPN access unless connecting 2 sites. So might be able to get away from that. Need to see your setup, diagram.
