I dont know the features of the 300 , but have some 50b and 60b in the field, and they are rock solid.
From my perspective (network admin) the big advantage of untangle is the reports included in the system, fortigate can provide reports by one external and expensive box : fortireport.

Have some clients on Fortigates (I didn't put in, I took client over and prior guy had put in)
Fast, stable. Neato looking graphic web admin. Good solid VPN tunnels.
Poor spam filtering...lots of spam get through
Poor AV/malware protection..lots of malware hits the workstations

Is not a plug and play box (as any UTM), need a smart config and the fortiOS upgrated to day.
The logic of the web interface is not easy (+1 to Untangle), but the support and knowledge page is very good.

And these clients, are using integration with Active Directory?
Could it be a good reason to choose Fortinet instead Untangle?

Why would that be a good reason to choose the Fortigate? Untangle has AD integration also...but most importantly...it's UTM features (double AV w/Kaspersky, and Spyware module) work better..and it's anti spam (w/CommTouch booster) works much better.

Yes, of course!! You're right. I want to install Untangle.
But I'm trying to convince my customer. He's testing Untangle and Fortigate,
and I'm looking for advantages to install Untangle vs Fortigate.
This custoner is focused only in the web filter module with AD integration.

Both have AD integration. Fortinet by a little app running in the ad server listening and talking with the fortigate box, untangle by a user login script.
I dont have problem with antivirus or anti spam of fortinet.
I repeat my first concept, fortigate dont have reports, then you work blind, cant do any forensic task about the last 24 hs, or last week. If you have an issue, you need catch them in the fly.
