Any specs listing? How it differs from the NG-25? (except from the obvious seen in the screenshot..like reduced number of eth ports.)

It differs from the NG-25 in several ways. First, it is completely fanless. It is also wall mountable with the optional wall mount kit. It is smaller by several inches, and it has better overall aesthetics than the NG-25.

The NG-Mini is designed for SOHO environments.

I do not recommend the use of the Spam Blocker modules on this device. The POP3 and IMAP scanners will introduce noticeable delays on e-mail reception. The SMTP blocker works, but again this device should not be utilized in an environment that is defending an e-mail server. If you need a device that can defend a SMB server environment, you need to stick with the NG-25 appliance.

The Virus Blocker can also introduce delays. I recommend the use of 9.1's new Commtouch AV module if you need AV on this device.

The NG-Mini also has two very specific Realtek 8111 interfaces that have been keeping up with DOCSIS 2.0 speeds. Initial results indicate the device is capable of 100mb of throughput. The NG-25 is capable of 800mb of throughput with it's Intel Pro1000 interfaces.

The NG-Mini also doesn't come with the internal CF based recovery functionality, this functionality is available as an optional upgrade.

This device was designed primarily for our resellers. It offers a lower cost option for those small branch offices that need basic content filtration and VPN functionality. It is no where near as versatile as our other appliances. However, with the resource savings we're seeing with Untangle 9.1 it is still quite potent and capable of handling a SOHO 5-10 user environment that lacks a mail server.

Think of it as your Linksys replacement, your very entry level Untangle option. The NG-25 is capable of handling a theoretical 50 user network by design. The NG-Mini is targeting the 5 user SMB segment. I would put no more than 10 users through this device.

I would also like to add a huge thank you to the Untangle developers. It is their tireless dedication to improving the performance of the Untangle software that this product is even possible. The NG-Mini is our first appliance designed specifically with UT 9.1's performance enhancements in mind.

Current purchases will be shipped with the 9.0.2 32bit image we use on the NG-25 series. In the coming week or two as UT 9.1 matures we'll update the manufacturing process to operate on 9.1.
