unfortunately, we won't have the time to do this.
the current UI has tested well.
1) left hand nav is common and users understand it
2) the real estate layout is more efficient for app GUIs and rack management

the proposed UI also has several issues

However, I would encourage you to pursue this on your own. If you are familiar
with extjs this would definitely be possible. Or submit a patch that expands
the ability of skins such that these kind of changes can be possible with
skins.

Maybe he is right, and i would start my custom UI after learnign EXTJS , but i'm not pretty sure if i can do it myself ...

I've learn a bit those "extjs" today, and i thinking about to try ...
So on Sunday i will install Untangle on VirtualBox and will try...

but i need to know the follow things :

- what is root password ?
- where is stored script UI/Skin files ?
- and - how to install "Midnight Commander" on Untangle ( i do not like browsing like a mad man all day ) ...

I would just pursue this as a skin option. Figure out what features you need in the live gui to make the skin possible and submit that as an upgrade request. UT isn't going to redo a GUI they have had in use for ages just because... but greater options are never a bad thing. I haven't gotten into this game much yet but I did start poking around the other day.

Maybe i'm missunderstood, and i'm sorry about if i wasn't clear before.
- I do not wanna completely remove left bar, there should be someone who still love it ...
I really wish to make it as a skin , even alot of different bar positions and custom UI's ...
I really hope about succeeding into this task

The root password is assigned by you the first time you launch the terminal on the console. It will open the terminal and ask for a password. This is where you type in what you want and it is set.

I'm not sure where to go for the skin locations and etc.

hmm ... it failed alot on VirtualBox.
when i intall the new one , i got black screen as result
Seems like i shall back to some old release.
Please - if soeone know a stable verson which running on VirualBox
let me know , in order to continue with testing about new skin ...

Hello, I'm just starting to toy with Untangle and I might take a couple of weeks before I can help you, but I will certainly go for your approach, since I will be installing it on an older PC with corresponding hardware, and I will not have as much real estate on the screen as I would like to get everything on it. I'll keep you posted on any results that I get.

Hi there, I have a similar idea and I would like to collaborate with this.

I'm also aiming at Google Chrome support, for me it's obvious that this "not-essential" stuff wont be developed by Untangle itself and I don't have experience with SubVersion.
I think we should organize a small group.
