All of our servers are installed via image. The only time they ever see a CD is if the consumer wants to manually reinstall, or when I do the initial installation to make the gold images.
We have a server online in our datacenter that houses the master images. So all I have to do is boot to the CF card, answer a few questions, and it pulls down the image for that hardware. In my case it was even faster because I maintain the images on another server here in my office. Pulling an image for that appliance took a whopping 5min. Manual installation takes far longer!

That... is a trade secret.
![]() Suffice to say the image is modified in certain ways to allow the interfaces to work normally.

i have a pxe server here, for UT i assume you have to use a kickstart method as with most linux installs, if your running a windows deployment server?

ahh didnt know clonezilla did that! always thought it only did it via booting from a disk and run it and save the image to a disk or USB

Clonezilla has a PXE server component. I personally haven't used it, but Jim has.
