Default Any way to do Connection limits

    Hi all

just wondering if there is a way to do connection limits in Untangle
we find this a very effective method for controlling p2p ect without the heavy handed not at all approach

Ie all ips in 192.168.x.1 -154 range limited to 60 simulatious connections max (each)

    Thanks

    There is QoS

Go to Configuration / Networking / QoS

The QoS in Untangle isn't evolved enough to magically detect downloads and shove them into low priority. But if you have a few users that are painful in this regard you can shove all of their traffic into low.

I realize there is basic QOS
what I am looking for is connection limits per client
    very different methods

Virtually all linux based distros will have this ability
but very few make it available in the GUI
this is very powerful method of control
especially if you manage a large number of users

And I'm telling you that Untangle doesn't have it at all!

If you go poke IPTables I'm sure you can pull this off. But the hackery Untangle has already done to IPTables to make the UVM work to begin with can be broken, very, very easily. Not to mention your changes will be overridden by the UVM every 15 min automatically.

So unless you want to start reading tons of Java code... sorry it just isn't there.

My first paragraph was meant for ivanradisson
as I dont think he understood what I meant

You clearly do understand exactly what I meant
I was hoping is it could be done through ip tables
but if it breaks it then its no use
    thanks for the info

Hopefully the untangle guys may look at this feature in the future

    Thanks

Actually in this case I don't thing we need a feature request. Untangle already has plans for an advanced premium QoS module that is to be made into a new purchasable feature. The ideas for which included this situation as well as a great many others. They just haven't gotten around to building the darn thing yet.
