Default iptables log

Hi,

I wish to log iptables related logs to a different file. How can I do it?

Hi Shahdharmit and Welcome to the forum,

The Firewall module dose not use IPtables.

The Packet filter do but there are no Logging options.

If you can describe what you want to do I think we can help you further.

Again Welcome!

Well I am blocking a few websites using iptables. This question doesn't specifically apply to Firewall app but the sectione seemed most fit for this question. I guess all the log of iptables goes to /var/log/syslog. I wish to redirect it to some other file. I am using something like below in /etc/rsyslog.d/untangle.conf file

:msg, contains, "SRC" -/var/log/ds_iptables.log
& ~

I don't think this is a good way to do it.

Don't mess with IPTables, if you want to do that don't use Untangle.

Playing with that tool will destroy Untangle's ability to function properly.

I wouldn't mess with it but I am not in position to argue with those above me.

Shahdharmit,

Use the Firewall app in Untangle.

IPTables are only used to control traffic to the UT server it self. (and you can do it via Config->Network->Advanced->Packet filter)

So leave the CLI alone
