Firewall - GUI hangs upon saving settings

Hello to everyone! This is my first post so i am not sure if its the right area!
The last month we have some GUI problems with UT especially in the firewall section. When we add a new rule and hit apply or save the gui seems to hang and shows the 'saving' status bar forever!!

I have noticed the same behaviour from time to time in other components but not constantly. this happens mainly on firewall.

Any ideas?

UT 9.2.0

Pentium 4 Dual Core
1,5 GB memory
2x 1GB NICs

one is an onboard realtek and second is a pci realtek.
(its n old desktop pc actually)


Everything works fine (e.g. filtering etc.) except the gui problems


Any specific log i should look into more carefully?

I have the same problem with the qui... When I add a new rule or change settings and hit apply or save the gui seems to hang and shows the 'saving' status bar forever.

I contacted helpdesk yesterday and and they responded tday whith this: "When the gui hangs, typically it is associated with connectivity issues. Verify that the Untangle passes the connectivity tests and your networking information is correct."

Everything else is fine and working the way should accept the gui when I change settings or add a new rule the same behaviour with almost all components happen constantly hangging and showing the 'saving' status bar forever.

I am thinking to reinstall all from scratch but any idea what is going?
This never happen to me before...

what are the dns settings on your external interface?

I seem to have the same problem.

When I click on the Administration button, it says 'Loading Config...' forever.

When I go to Web filter lite, Pass list, and saved Passed IP settings... it locks up at 'Saving'. though if it hit refresh, log back in, and go back to the list of IPs, it DOES save the changes.


I would paste system info but that locks up too.

I do know I'm running the latest version, and have a dual core 2GB system with 2 nics.

I also can't make a local backup any longer.

I've been running untangle for a long time, and last time this happened 3-4 versions ago, I had to format and start from scrach. I hope that isn't the case this time.

Take a look at /var/log/syslog /var/log/messages and /var/log/debug for any hardware errors.
