Default USB NIC for Untangle???

I bought an ASRock ION 330 unit (very very small) with the idea that it could be my new Untangle box. Realizing it only had one NIC, I also bought a Belkin USB-to-Ethernet adapter. Just before leaving the store, I crossed fingers.

Of course, Untangle has no idea the Belkin adapter is even there. Nuts!

Anyone know of a USB-Ethernet adapter that will work with Untangle?

Default It does work at install

From my short experience with untangle the usb nics would only work if you had them plugged in before you installed Untangle. If you plug them in afterwards it will never recognized without going to command line and trying to force it.

I have setup a couple of boxes with usb nics than they work fine for home networks and even very small offices. One box even had 2 usb nics and 1 onboard nic. The 2 usb nics were for internal and dmz and has been running for about 6 months. Jus my 2 cents.

Default mine was not detected at install

Hi Sandman002.

I tried using a Belkin USB 10/100 Ethernet Adapter. I did have it connected when I booted up the Untangle CD. I even had it plugged into my cable 'modem'. Untangle 6.2 still said I only have 1 NIC.

Do you have any specific recommendations for ones that do work?

thanks.

For some reason and I am not sure why untangle didnt really like the belkins that well. I had a couple of those laying around and it was to much of a headache.

I found and airlink101 eathernet usb 10/100 for $5 bucks at Frys one day and said what the hey its $5 dollars, plugged it into an old hp desktop installed untangle and no problems. Bought about 6 more for a couple of other (cheap) customers and they have had no problems with them either. The most I have paid for one so far is $14 buck that could have all been luck. Give it a try

Its an Airlink101 fast-ethernet USB 2.0 adapter 10/100. Let us know if it works for you.

thanks sandman002. I finally decided to go with a mini-itx mobo with a pci nic to get the 2nd port - the usb route was just being a pita. I'm typing this from the new UT box console

I successfully used a TRENDnet TU2-ET100 to create a DMZ on my UT box.
