Default how important is hdd speed?

    hello

I got a 4 person network ( more computers but will never be more then 4 ) and I want to have it handle 1-3 VPN connections max.

but my computer that I will run it on is a ibm X41T, and it has a REALLLY slow hdd.

should that cause any issues ?

    with 4 users probably not.

with large networks disk I/O becomes important because of events and the complexity of all the apps running. If you're on a small network it probably won't matter at all beyond slow startup time.

Yeah those X41's were painfully slow, that proprietary 1.8" 4,200rpm drive.
I've run PFSense on one for a while, no issues, just took a while to install, bootups weren't lightening fast, guessing Untangle will be similar for home use...long bootup times.
