Hi,

I'm looking for some way to automatically bypass Untangle box in the case of hang up or failure.

Untagle has support for Niagara 32265 card which could do the job. Only problem is I can find any reseller witch is selling this card.

Since I can't purchase this card I started thinking of another ways that this can be achieved.

One suggestion was to use a switch and STP (Spanning Tree Protocol).

In my network exit to the Internet is : SWITCH - Untangle box - Cisco PIX.

Now if I put Switch instated of Untangle box and connect them together with two cables : SWITH = SWITC - PIX.

The STP on switch will block one line and other will be active. If active line fail backup path will be used.

Next logical step will be to put Untagle box on forwarding line and fix STP path cost on switch.

The question to which I don't have the answer is will STP pass across the Untangle box?
