Yup and heat and power usage are so close and you give yourself far more headroom to play with.

CPU load on my Atoms in the field don't stand by this. The only time I see the CPU off the charts is when you ask unrealistic things of the unit to start with. Like, expecting a low power unit to defend a busy Exchange server.

yeah the atoms don't sit at 100% that's not true. Only sit at 100% when doing something it should not be doing, OR its WAY under powered...

I've got atom D510's running 80 user government offices. I've got dual core celeron's running small schools with 200 users. I've got a quad core AMD Phenom running a school with 2000 users. CPU doesn't matter so much unless your spam filtering or doing heavy virus filtering. Memory is kind of important, in the way that you don't want to run out of it.

The most important part of an Untangle router is the network card. If you have solid Intel or Broadcom interfaces, and you know what your doing with Untangle, you can make an old p4 system run a hundred users.

Sure the i7's are nice, but unless your running a few thousand users, your just wasting your money. For home use, a single core atom will run like a champ. It might take a minute to boot, but once it's up and running, it'll do just fine.
