    Default Hp Procurve MSM 760!

I just "hacked" this device and turned it into a untangle box.
It can be done and now has been done and I think im the first to do it. IT functions REALLY well and is SUPER fast as a firewall. I put 4gb of ram into it.

If you open one its basically just a pc inside. I just fitted it with a vid card to install then removed it and closed it up then it booted and is wonderful now.

Before I had a device that didnt boot at all and now I have a upgraded firewall from my old p4 to this guy.
    I thought ID share

I know it has a supermicro motherboard and 4gb of ram and a core2duo e6400

Very interesting repurpose although the hardware is pretty pricey, new at least.

I know its nics are both gigabit too which is another plus. For home use I think this will take me 7+ years into the future especially If I put say a q6660 in it and it supports it according to the manual. Should meet my bandwidth needs for a long time.

I cant wait until untangle has full IPV6 support!

Win on scoring it for free. I'm checking out lcdproc for the display on my repurposed WXC. Let us know how you get on with this.

Im going to be posting some pics later today but that lcdproc seems like it should do what I need it to. I have been having a lot of luck with the system as it has not crashed or even stuttered once and performs a LOT better than the old 2.8 ghz p4 system I had before
