    Default Intermediate n00b - Intel based hardware question.

    Greetings everyone .......

    To give you all a brief background on me, I have setup 3 Untangle light packages in my time, but that was a number of years ago, and obviously hardware has changed.

    I am now attempting to install another lite package on a brand new 1U all Intel box. The install starts off fine, but then it can't detect the SATA DVD / CD, as well as the SATA drive and the Raid Controller

    Board is an Intel S1200BTL MB
    Raid Controller is an Intel embedded Raid controller handling 2 500gb SATA drives in a RAID 1 configuration.

    NICs are Intel NICS - infact, as I said, the entire board is all Intel.

    The documentation that came with the unit has drivers for RHEL, but not Debian. I am going to do more research in the morning, and can even post up specifics on NICS, etc, but I'm rather brain dead at this moment.

    Any ideas, thoughts, suggestion, or links would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you so much ......

    G.

    Ditch the mirror, and it should work. FakeRAID + Linux has never worked.

    Set the SATA controller into IDE emulation mode.

    First - thanks for the info. After ditching the mirror, and setting the SATA controller into IDE emulation mode, the install worked. But then I ran into another issue which related to the USB ports, which was;

    i8042.c can't read CTR while initializing i8042. I researched the issue and found numerous theories ranging from video issues to not being able to initialize the keyboard ..... Funny this is, I could get to a "GRUB> " prompt via the keyboard.

    Anyhow, with the work I've done on this system and it's "harshness" with the install my boss wanted me to look into other alternatives for a system.

    Which I have - and I will be posting that information plus another question in a new thread
