    Default Building an Untangle box

Currently, i have a 25/5 connection, with about 10 users, but that could always go up to 50/10, or even more. With even 20+ users eventually. I also plan on using the VPN. This is for my home network.
    Here's my current plan:

(Sorry, It won't let me post links)

    Motherboard/CPU/GPU: Intel BOXD2700MUD Intel Atom D2700 Intel NM10 Mini ITX -- $80
    Case/PSU:Antec ISK 300-150 Black Mini-ITX Desktop Computer Case 150W Power Supply -- $90
SSD: Crucial M4 CT032M4SSD3 mSATA 32GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive -- $55
NIC: Intel PWLA8391GTL Desktop Adapter PRO/1000 GT Low Profile-- $32
    RAM: Mushkin Enhanced Essentials 4GB (2 x 2GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1066 -- $23

    How does it look?

For the motherboard, I have an Intel board, with an Intel Atom D2700 CPU. The case is nothing special. It has a 150W PSU, which is more than plenty for this build. The SSD is a 32GB Crucial m4, which connects to the motherboard with a mSATA Connection. The Motherbaord has one of these connections. I will also max out the board with 4GB of RAM, cuz honestly, the RAM is just so cheap, so why not?
I couldn't find any decently priced Dual port PCI NICs, so ill use the onboard NIC, and a single PCI NIC.

Am I missing anything? What would you guys change?
    Thanks.

I don't see anything about mSATA support for that mb. Check Intel site:
    http://ark.intel.com/products/56457/...Board-D2700MUD

IF your case has enough space you can try with an Intel PRO/1000 MT. It is a PCI-X card compatible with PCI.

If you look at the board on the newegg website, you'll see that the mSata port is listed in the specs. And you can also see it in the picure.

As for the NIC, I don't think there would be room for a larger card. My current NIC is already pushing it.

MiniPCI-E does not guarantee mSATA support.

I did some searching, and it turns out this specific board doesn't support msata. I'll just get a sata to msata adapter online

If you want an SSD, just get a SATA version, they are inexpensive and you really don't need more than 60 Gb ... another caution, the Case only has a 150 W power supply, I know that some Intel mini-ITX mobo's do need more power, I had a 200w and had two mobo's fail, maybe see if you can get a case with a larger power supply?

As for the performace, I have a 2nd Gen Intel Atom running a 50 Mbps connection without any degregation in performance. I am sure that the D2700 will perform perfectly, just be careful of how much SMTP filtering is being provided as that does impact performance a lot ...

You also really don't need more than 2Gb, you can't access more than 3 Gb anyway unless you are using the 64bit build ...

If you use 32bit Untangle on a platform with large volumes of ram the actual break is somewhere between 3.5gb and 4gb.

I want to use the crucial m4 SSD, becuase of its speeds, and reliability. The problem is, is that the 32GB version only comes in the mSata size. So I am getting an adapter for that from Amazon. I am also going to put in only 4GB of RAM. Its not like its expensive. As for the motherboard, I have a question. I have two options:
    Intel D2500CCE Motherboard (2 NOCs) (D2500 CPU)
    Intel BOXD2700MUD Motherboard (1 NIC) (D2700 CPU) + Intel PWLA8391GTLBLK NIC (1 NIC)

i'm leaning more towards the second option, because it has a better CPU.

I'm building a test/demo box and choose the D2500CCE. With 2 int. nics you can either use an small itx case (M350) or a bigger one with additional nics.

If you choose the 27000MUD check if you can fit an Intel Pro MT dual port in that case, they are cheap on eBay.

Have you check the 2800MT? It supports mSATA and with some guts and modding skills you can use a HP NC360T dual gigabit (check ebay). Be aware that this MB uses an external PSU.

Also, the new Atoms RAM support is limited to 4gb, you can use a single 4gb SODIMM or 2x2GB.

I'm really liking the 2800MT. That way, i won't need an adapter for my SSD, and I get a PCI express port instead of a PCI. And If I get the M350 instead of the current one I chose, I can get a riser kit, thus letting me use full height cards. Riser Kit.

EDIT: If I use the riser kit, could I just dremel the riser to allow a larger card to fit, as opposed to mod the card? They should have the same result. And I wouldnt risk damaging the card. Also, is an Intel PRO/1000 PT equivalent to an HP NC360T? If that is the case, then could i buy this? http://www.ebay.com/itm/DELL-PRO-100...#ht_900wt_1139

As for the power, it doesn't seem like an adapter comes with the board. How is this one? I chose it because it is universal... http://www.amazon.com/FSP-NBS90-Univ...QG/ref=lh_ni_t
