Default I'm going to upgrade my Untangle box. Recomendations please.

Right now I have a 120 gig IDE drive. 1.2Ghz Athlon CPU with 1 gig ddr 400 ram (second stick doesn't work, have to exchange it) with an ASUS A7N8X-X motherboard and an OCZ 500 watt PS.

I'm going to keep the PS & HD and that's about it.
    The Untangle box runs 3 PC's, 2 360's, 2 PS3's, Wii and a Tivo.
Roommate uses one PC and I have one as my server (burning stuff, downloading, etc.) and the other one is my gaming rig.
    I also use a Linksys BEFSR81 (8 port router) and a WRT54G (4 port wireless).
So I'm looking at spending around 500-700ish, or even below 500.

Your recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

First, do a forum search on "Asus"

You'll find much pain and suffering.

With the new beta I believe the pain and suffering is gone, thank's to Lenny.

I just rebuilt my UT-box due to painfully slow and jerky 1080p movies on the htpc...

Had better mobo, cpu & ram in the UT-box than in the htpc. So now UT runs on a ASUS mobo and "suffers" the pain and agony of single core 2Ghz with only 2 gig's of ram.

And that box truelly "suffers" under my full wrath of torrenting, gaming & server load, 5 servers, 13 pc's on a 100/100 line and I have yet to se it fall for the pressure. Knock on wood tho, cause it will fail they always do...

I don't know what I'm doing! I just do it!
So take what I'm saying with a grain of salt...;)

I'd ditch the old sr81...use UT as your one and only router. Flip the wrt54 to access point mode.

Asus is my favorite brand of motherboard...has always given me the most rock solid stable platforms, I think the issues people have are on the alternate chipset based boards...nForce or...ugh....I can't say it..."Via" //gag. I stick with Intel chipsets. The onboard NICs are also mixed...I'm not a fan of the Marvel ones.

ASUS is the brand of motherboard I select for all the boxes I have built for my clients and myself. I have not had issues with this brand. I do however always TEST and verify that all components work to my satisfaction.

Both Linksys are setup as access points. I just have to much stuff to connect and can't be bothered buying a bunch of wireless cards.

As much as I really do not like Dell, they have a really sweet sale going on right now. You can purchase a Poweredge T105 with dual core Opteron 1214, 4GB memory, dual 160GB Sata II drives and 2 nics for about $520 shipped. You have to customize to get those features but it's still a great deal.
