All my C7 boxes out there were set to autoupdate, I just kind of forgot about them.
Unfortunatly, the new version 7 kills them with 100% CPU usage and makes the internet goto dialup speeds. Where can I download an older version of untangle to install on these C7 machines? (and turn off auto update). I know you guys changed the codebase sometime last year to something more CPU intensive, and that's when these older dedicated boxes started slowing down, and version 7 finally killed em. All these boxes do is act as content logging firewalls. No dns/dhcp. No spam/fish. |

I would use 6.2, the 5.x series is riddled with problems. You know 6.2 worked... so use that.

This is exactly what has happened to us. Only that when we try going back to 6.2 , even if I cancel the automatic update, it doesn't let me add apps unless I upgrade to 7.0
How can I disable this automatic update? Thanks for your help. eric. |

I put instructions for that in Rick's other thread... but I'm still dealing with the flu / seasonal allergies mess and I'm too lazy to go find it.
Go into SSH or the terminal, and edit /etc/apt/sources.list.d/untangle.list Put a # in front of the first line to comment it out. Then run apt-get update. You should be able to download modules again. When you're done, reedit the file and remove the comment, then run apt-get update again. This will make the box available for upgrade again, I'm not sure if the apt system is also used for AV and spyware definitions... so it's best to put it back to default for the long haul just to be safe.

I'd suggest figuring out what the issue is.
7.0 is much more performant than 6.2

I'm wondering where you're pulling that statement from Dirk... every version I've seen with the exception of the original 6.0 release has needed more CPU. 7.0 is pushing my two stations about 10% harder than 6.2 did...

I agree with Rick and Sky-Night, my server is a dedicated poweredge 860 machine. And V7 does turn the speed of our internet connection into dial up like.
http://forums.untangle.com/installat...7-install.html At the same time I wish we could find out what the issue is. |
