Hello and thanks in advance. Anyway, I'm new to Untangle. Saw about on some time ago on Hak5 through Revision3. Finally got a PC powerful enough to run it.
I'm coming from using Smoothwall for last three plus years. I wasn't the most advance user, but I did have it setup with three networks--red-green-orange-purple. Anyway, I'm having an issue that's pretty critical. I tried searching for forums and the wiki with no success. For some reason, the Untangle box is not pulling any information--IP, subnet, DNS--from my ISP (Comcast). Thus I'm able to download anything. I've switched my ethernet cables, NICs (five available), powercycled the modem, called Comcast had them reboot the modem. Yet, I can connect the modem direct to my laptop after a powercycle and it pulls the information. I have the Untangle setup as Router/Firewall. From there, I have three wireless access points/switches that are setup in bridge mode. I'm basically just keep my setup I had with Smoothwall and converting to Untangle I can log into the Untangle box from a PC connected to my network. So my NICs are working. The only thing I'm not sure if it is any affect is when I boot up the untangle box, and my monitor, if I'm switched to that machine, doesn't work with the default resolution, and I have to go into Hardware Safe Mode, rather than the default or High Res. I haven't tried recovery mode. I've set the resolution in Safe Mode and tried rebooting into one of the other modes, but no success. The resolution the machine puts out is beyond what my monitor will accept. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. |
