hello all

after i start installing i will get a message saying that....


"untangle platform was not installed you have to re-start"

System configuration:
Intel pentium 4 -- 2.0Ghz
mother board- intel desktop board 845 GLVA
Ram - 1.5 GB
samsung DVD writer.
Untangle 5.3 CD ( i have two both having same problem)

Does this box boot any other operating system? you could try a Knoppix livecd to confirm this, or a Windows installation disk.
What is the size of the harddisk? Less than 40GB is not going to work (well).
What type harddisk? (IDE, SCSI, SATA, etc... addon cards (RAID) present? what mode is the card in?)
What type DVD writer? (IDE, SCSI, SATA, etc...)
What network cards are present? (Brand, speed, bustype, age?)
Is the above all known-working hardware?

i am installing to 160GB segate IDE hard disk with IDE DVD wiriter...
10/100 lan card....
after trying the direct installation i tryed to install on ubuntu 8.? desktop edition. i has successfully installed ubuntu on same Box. but the installation for untagle failed in ubuntu

.....i want to install it ASAP. because i allredy installed one UT box in main office it is working well from last 5 months. (great).Now the main VPN to branch office is down. so i need to install UT in branch office and need to establish VPN using UT.

NO REST....till it get rectified

Could you try and see if there are any error messages displayed on the boot console when you boot from the Untangle 5.3 install CD?
You can briefly unhide the messages by pressing [ESC] when the Untangle logo shows up.

In case the previous install of other OS software is still in the way:
Can you download and run DBAN on the 160GB harddrive in quick mode to make sure there are no remains of the Ubuntu bootloader(s)?
There is a bootable iso CD image for DBAN here, at the Darik's Boot and Nuke website.
Be aware that once you let DBAN run, there is no way back - the data on the harddrive will be lost.

This is effectively useless information. We need to know brand and chipset. In Ubuntu, how many nics show up, and what are they called?
