Default No Video after 6.1 beta 2 install

During my 6.1 beta 2 install I get to the point where the new "black" untangle screen shows the progress bar at the bottom of the screen. Once it gets to the end my monitor turns off and gives me the "unable to display video. Unsupported resolution". I have tried this on 3 different monitors and also tried to boot with hardware recovery mode and I am getting the same results. Any thoughts...?

Thanks,
NimRod
BTW, this is on a Dell Vostro 220s

Well, it is the onboard video card that is on the Vostro 220s motherboard. I believe they are the same onboard video cards the Vostro 200 uses.
I have never had problems with onboard video cards in the past running on older version of untangle. You would think it would at least run in some "Generic" or "Standard" mode that a 19" lcd could handle.

My install was the same. I did not get a blank screen but the resolution was so high the video card was very sluggish and the monitor must have been pushed because it made a horrible high pitched whine.

How do we lower the resolution?

I would like to see 1024x768 or 1280x1024 be the standard resolution myself. I use 15" or 17" lcd on my servers and I install a 2 port KVM when I install the Untangle boxes. So, I need the resolution to work with that size monitor.

Default got it to work

I pulled out an old Viewsonic 21" crt monitor and now I have video. The resolution is very high. Is there a way to go into the console and edit this setting...?

Me also got the same problem, install 6.1.0 final and now my console resolution somehow got problem.

I'm using KVM switch, last time on ver 6.0.2 no problem. Please feedback on how to adjust the video resolution manually. Thanks

we posted a new 6.1.0 ISO last night with something that may fix KVM issues.

redownload it and give that one a try.

I downloaded the ISO yesterday (4/11) trying to fix this same issue that started when I upgraded my 6.0.2 installation.

I've tried the ISO a couple of times now, once with the KVM attached, and once with the computer plugged directly into a monitor/keyboard/mouse, but the results are the same as other people are reporting.

The install works fine at first until it ejects the CD and asks me to reboot.

The Untangle boot screen comes up at 1024x768 resolution, and seems fine.

Once the X server starts, it switches to 1600x1200 resolution, and the problems start.

The video is built onto the motherboard, and does indeed support 1600x1200, but the regular 17" monitor in my rack only goes up to 1280x1024.

I've plugged a 21" monitor into the computer, and can complete the installation, so it's not a showstopper for me (unlike others).

It seems a little strange to assume that everyone will have a monitor capable of running that high a resolution.

How can I reset the X server to 1280x1024 or even 1024x768 either from the Untangle GUI or from an Xterm command line?

Thanks, John
