Default Registering Asterisk on local with external SIP gateway

I am trying to move from a m0n0wall router to an Untangle router. I have been happily using an IP4 asterisk appliance (rowetel.com/ucasterisk/) for about 6 months. When I switch to Untangle I my Asterisk box can't register with my SIP gateway (voicepulse.com). Everything works fine locally, phones pickup an IP and register with with the Asterisk system, can retrieve voice-mail, etc.

The IP4 has a fix IP 192.168.1.30. To get it working I tried port forwarding all request in all protocols from external to 192.168.1.30 but the unit still can't register with the SIP gateway.

I have done a bunch reading but everything I found is details on more complex SIP issues. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
-marc

Hi.

However, in the case of VoIP, the Untangle Server is preconfigured with a default bypass rule, so VoIP works "out of the box" without the typical VoIP performance and reliability problems.

I was running two SIP-Phones (Sipura/Siemens) behind a UT6.0 with sporadic signaling problems, but they were always registering with my voip provider (sipgate).

Remove all Portforwardings, enable ssh and dump the traffic between your PBX and your provider.

I changed back to my debian gateway, because it has the latest netfilter sip helper running.

thats done somewhere in config->networking->advanced.
i can't remember where off the top of my head.

found it.
config->networking->advanced->bypass rules->Enable SIP NAT Helper

the sip issues i experienced were similar to the buggy old sip helper without random nat.
