Default Subnetting VoIP traffic

We just installed an Untangle box version 7.X. It working fine but we also need to install a Fonality VoIP system. We have already installed a NIC in the Untangle box and we can see the card in the configuration settings screen. What we need to have is this:

1. The fonality system (Static IP is enabled on the Fonality box) on its own subnet with the card in the Untangle box controlling DNS either as a pass through from Untangle or on its own

2. Have the Untangle box serve up DNS and DHCP for the remainder of our network (we have this working but on one network)

We've searched the Wiki and forums but the explanations are vague and seem incomplete. Can someone shed some light in exactly what we need to do to set this up. If someone is willing to take an after hours call in the near future we'll tke that too.

Thanks

I like that. I'll have to use it in future sigs.

I'll let the more advanced networking gurus take care of the question. I have an idea on how to make this work, but as I like to say, I know just enough networking to make me dangerous.

Welcome to the wide world of advanced deployment. And yes, you are correct the wiki and forums are rather sketchy on these subjects. They are that way because the solutions for each deployment are slightly different.

For the PBX, the best option is to configure that nic dedicated to it to bridge to external and simply give the PBX an Internet address. Then you can use the firewall module to control access, but you eliminate the headaches of dealing with NAT to the PBX.

Alternately you can configure it static, deal with the NAT policy adjustments to get it online, hack up the packet filter to get traffic to flow, and then argue with DNSMasq configuration to get multi-subnet DHCP support.

The details of all this are greatly dependent on exactly what you're going for. And this post isn't providing near enough detail for anyone to help with any specifics.

Rob,

Thanks for responding. I'll post this evening if your suggestion works! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I actually get to have dinner with my wife and kids tonight.
