I see the espn360 thread was closed with no apparent solution so I'm re-asking the question. I'm trying to watch some games and am having no luck viewing through UT. When I run my PC directly into the cable modem, bypassing UT, I can view it fine and when I briefly tried an off the shelf Linksys WRT54G I was able to watch live video on espn360 fine.
However, when I disable every service in UT I still can't see videos on espn360. I even tried creating a bypass rule for all traffic coming to this client IP address - still nothing. I'm using WinXP SP3 and FF3.6 with UT7.1. I installed FF plug-in view dependencies and here's what's showing:
I've had UT's spyware blocker turned off for months now in order to be able to watch flash videos on my favorite cable news website - I don't like having it off but that's the only way I could watch the flash vids (yes, flash is correctly installed). Maybe addressing the espn360 viewing problem will help me with the flash videos too... So do I need to add the above links to one of the services as acceptable or fine to let through? If so, where? Thanks. |

Using Firefox 3.6 I just tried to go to "watch now" on espn360.com in 7.1 and comes up as a blank screen.
Searching the logs i found the following: # grep -r -i espn /var/log/* /var/log/apache2/other_vhosts_access.log:127.0.0.1:80 172.16.0.50 - - [12/Mar/2010:15:55:57 -0800] "GET /spyware/detect.jsp?nonce=8cf6ef8dffd8cde1&tid=9 HTTP/1.1" 200 373 "http://sports.espn.go.com/espntv/espnGuide" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.6" /var/log/apache2/access.log:172.16.0.50 - - [12/Mar/2010:15:55:57 -0800] "GET /spyware/detect.jsp?nonce=8cf6ef8dffd8cde1&tid=9 HTTP/1.1" 200 373 "http://sports.espn.go.com/espntv/espnGuide" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.6" I added *.go.com under the passlist in the Spyware module, then tried with IE 8. Now I have a Install Now to install an add-on for their "movie" software which is by the way a .exe file. Now the Georgetown vs. Marquette game is on Hope this helps (i will test without the *.go.com in the spyware passlist at a later time) |

I just added *.go.com to spyware blocker and turned it on (remember, I haven't had it on and still wasn't getting video on espn360.com) and still no video. If spyware blocker isn't on, how could it be the bottleneck? Am I missing something?

make sure you completely flush your cache after changing any settings.
rebooting your machine/browser isn't enough. many times it will cache the blockpage as the site you are trying to reach. |

- Turn Spyware Blocker 'on' and view the event log, clicking Refresh - Add edgefcs.net (Akamai) to Spyware Blocker's pass list, at least temporarily - Visit an NPR.org page to play a story (for an example, search google for "Rodrigo y Gabriela's Flamenco Metal" and click on the first link) - Click on "Hear the Session", which opens NPR's player in a new window - Wait for "Done' in the status bar and note that the player doesn't play any sound, then close the player window - Refresh the event log and observe that no new entries have been added - Turn Spyware Blocker off - Revisit the story's page - Click on "Hear the Session", which opens NPR's player in a new window - The player now plays with Spyware Blocker turned off Is Spyware Blocker expected to record all blocking events to its log? If so, is there another explanation for nothing appearing in its log? Without an event in the log it's hard to figure out what to add to SB's pass list.
