    Default Installing other apps?

Greetings! And thank you for a wonderful product! I run the network for a LAN/CCG/RPG/TTG Gaming center in Sandusky, Ohio, and we've been looking for a way to filter/monitor internet usage, and Untangle is the PERFECT solution!

I have a couple of questions...
I know Untangle runs atop a build of linux, and I've got some linux experience... I used to admin an IRC server, and have run a few eggdrop botnets (mostly trivia, etc... I know, childish, but still fun!). is it possible to run (in the background?) apps like these?

My current server is an AMD Athlon at 1.8ghz, 1gb of PC3200 RAM, and an 80gb hdd... we have a 10/1 internet connection with a static IP, and we host a couple of websites (Very small, mostly forums). We have 14 public use computers, 3 "Store" computers (cash registers, etc.), and on busy weekends 5 or so people bring their computers in. We also have four servers aside from the one that is running Untangle, one web, one mail, one file/ISO Image, and one as a backup for the other three (backup software that runs every night at 2am) so it's a pretty busy network... and so far we've not had a single hiccup.

Any suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated!

You should read posts on the forum by "Silver Bullet" regarding gaming. He and others have experienced problems with certain games whose traffic passes through Untangle. This will hopefully be better in 5.1, which is currently being tested.

As far as "store" use (as compared to gaming), Untangle would serve your needs well. Where gaming is concerned, read the forums and should you choose to try Untangle, don't put the whole network behind it until you can determine the quality of the gaming experience. Start with a few boxes for testing.
