Try pressing the ESC key when the initial splash screen displays and watch closely which messages appear at the bottom of your display.

I had this issue and the messages that displayed prior to dropping into the very limited shell were that the boot sequence was looking for the CD in /dev/* devices.

My solution was to burn to a different CD media.

I will second the recommendation to use ImgBurm with the verify option...
