    Default what is exactly free

    Hi,

a friend of mine was trying to install untangle in our server but Iīm afraid of using it īcause I donīt know if the web filtering application is totally free.

What Iīm trying to know is if untangle later wonīt appear with the message saying we have to pay for the web filter application...

    how good is it anyway?

Welcome to the forums! There are many people here on the forums that know a lot about UT and can solve pretty much any problem. I am still learning but I can help you out.

The web filtering app is indeed free, and you can see what apps are free here

The apps under the "Open Source & Free" section are free to use. When you do install Untangle, it will let you install the free applications and tell you the pay for ones are part of the "Professional Package"

Untangle is an amazing piece of software and it is very easy to get up and running.

The forums and the Wiki have ton's of useful information to!

    Good Luck with everything.

Its totally free, no popups or nagging - I promise

The only thing that isn't free is the professional package - support and some fancy features (remote access portal, AD integration, hosted config backup) and the dual virus blocker.

edit: pvcrisp beat me to it! nice post

Thanks for the compliments dmorris! I am really interested in becoming 'good' with UT and the people here at the forums have been very helpful, so I am trying to help out those that I can.
