    Angry No internet to Windows 2008 vmware machine

    Dear;

    I have UT installed as VM in route mode on EXSI 5.0;
    LAN IP : 10.0.0.1
    WAN IP : 213.X.x.x
    I have also Wndows 2008 AD; DNS and DHCP installed as VM on the same EXSI5.0
    LAN IP : 10.0.0.3

    All the pc clients get correctly the IP from windows 2008 and can browse to the internet

    My problem is the windows 2008 VM cannot connect to the internet.
    I am using public DNS (8.8.8.8 and 4.2.2.2)

    Regards
    AIME

    Hi Aimeruko,

    Can you tracert to 8.8.8.8?
    Post a screenshot of the tracert and post here.

    Also check the GW settings on the Windows server to so that you don't have a error there.

    And are the Windows server on the same VSwitch as the Untangle Internal Interface?

    Your 2008 vm is on the same vSwitch as Untangle's internal interface?

    Map it out, draw all the lines paying double attention to how the physical meets the virtual.

    How is your networking done in ESXi as well as across your network?

    My ESXi 5 box has 3 virtual switches, one switch on its own LAN card. I have DHCP turned off on Untangle and Server 2008 R2 doing DHCP.

    - One for the management
    - One for WAN
    - Untangle external interface connects here
    - One for LAN
    - Untangle internal interface connects here
    - Windows Server 2008 R2 connects here
    - Physical switch connected

    Also ensure that promiscuous mode is enabled for all interfaces the Untangle VM connects to.

    Hope this helps!
