Question Prioritize websites that use different IPs

    Hello,

At our company, we use a hosted CRM (by Zoho) and hosted email (by Google Apps).

After we log into email via browser, via Google we log in to the Zoho CRM. There's a set of IPs that we need to allow, or a whole block. In this case, 74.201.xx.xx.

The actual problem is, every now and then, we're experiencing slowdown or disconnection to the CRM. Now I want to set high priority and total speed to Zoho CRM and Google Apps.. but also any other IPs that come into play when we log in to these.

Zoho for example tries to connect to accounts.zoho.com, gadgets.zoho.com, crm.zoho.com and god knows what other IPs once we click through into it from Google. Any such IPs that come into play as a result should be allowed with high priority as well.

Any way we can do this?
    Thanks!

Just create the appropriate rules in bandwidth control somewhere near the top (so they match before any other possible rule that might match those sessions)

You can use HTTP hostname, or destination IP. Either will work.
I imaging just a rule with zoho.com would be best if all the domains are *.zoho.com

Then just check the event log (or session viewer) to make sure they are being prioritized correctly.

    Right.
But what if Bandwidth Control is turned off? I only have QoS on.

What I mean to say, dmorris, is why are we having intermittent issues if Bandwidth Control is not even turned on. No problem doing it, but just making sure.

I have no idea. I was just answering the question in your post. I have no knowledge of your network, your server, or your configuration so I can't comment on any issues you are having.

Right. I've turned on BC and added two rules under "Destination Address" that sets the priority to very high.

    One is zoho.com
    Other is *.zoho.com

I'll keep you updated on it's progress.

you should use HTTP: Hostname; Destination Address is for IPs.

if it keeps dropping perhaps the issue is a routing one to those sites, or your ISP...

Wow, thanks for that pointer. Made the change. Let's see how it goes now.
