Default The list of useful open source / free software

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread of all of the useful free and open source software out there. For reference to other people.

Do not list Untangle please, that one is pretty obvious.

Things I recommend;

7-zip - Archiving utility for Windows, it can open tar.gz files in Windows
Hash Tab - Checksum utility for Windows
SubSonic - Music streaming software
ClamWin - Windows port of the Clam anti-virus

Will add more as I think of them, please everyone add your .

I don't have any to add, but I would like to say that my general strength on the Windows side (and lack of on the Linux side) has kept me locked into Windows for longer than I have wanted to be. Lists like this are good for people like me (and there's probably lots of them).

THANKS!!!

I second many of the mentions in this thread. In the web browser category, there is also SRWare Iron, a compilation of Google Chrome code.
