    Default Fun with LDAP!

I am hoping someone can help me with this.

I am trying to host an IM server for our office. I want to connect it to our AD server for simplicity. The software is called Openfire server, it has an option when setting it up to connect it to an AD server or LDAP server.

When I follow the instructions in this book I have and online it says the connection string is no good.

I was hoping that someone on here might know how to write in LDAP, I have tried it and I understand it but I must not be doing it right.

    LDAP Info needed:

    Domain: campbellsurvey.local

    Server IP: localhost

    Port: 389

    User container: Domain Users

    Administrator Name: Administrator

    Administrator Container: User

Thank you for anyone's time in advance.

    Hi,
What version of OpenFire is it?
    We are running 3.6.4.
And there the input should be:
    Code:
    LDAP Settings
    Host: IP TO LDAP Server
    Port: 389
    Base DN: DC="campbellsurvey",DC="LOCAL"
    Administrator DN: CN="administrator",cn="Users",DC="campbellsurvey",DC="LOCAL"
If you only use "DC="campbellsurvey",DC="LOCAL"" for base the all user in the domian can use openfire. if it is only a group add CN="Users" (if the group is Users).

    Thanks for the code there.

By any chance are familiar with Openfire?

Do the LDAP commands need to be in quotes? (Answered this myself, leaving in quotes is a violation of the LDAP syntax it says)

Update: WebFooL is a god!, This is the first time in probably a month and a half that I have got LDAP connectivity working.

    I have a server with 150 users.
Is there something special that you are thinking about?

we also run openfire with Active Directory without issue. What Webfool suggested looks right (if my memory serves me right).

Originally I was trying to use Openfire with its voice chat feature. But when I tried it all I got was some error saying that connection was dropped by the server. I kinda just gave up on that feature.
