    Default Cable modem and switch

If I just wanted to have the untangle server attached to our exchange server and not our work network could I place a switch after the cable modem and split the connection

    Current:

Cable Modem ---- Router ---- Untangle ---- Exchange
    |------Office network

    What I want

Cable Modem -- Switch -- Router -- office
    |-----Untangle -- exchange

    Is that possible?

or can I make untangle only filter specified IP addresses?

So you want Untangle to be a Spam filter for exchange but not impact the rest of the LAN?

Bridge mode install, pull the network line out of the back of the exchange server and cram it into the external adapter on Untangle.. get a crossover and plug the lan adapter of Untangle into the lan adapter on Exchange.

Go order a steak dinner and enjoy yourself, because it's done.

if I changed the UT box to bridge
1: would I still have all the same filtering functions
2: what IP would I use to get my exchange svr on a DMZ, the UT box or exchange?
I want to access untangle & OWA from outside the LAN

1.) Yes the rack is fully functional on a bridge installation
2.) You use the same IP you do now... bridged installations don't change your network structure at all and therefore logically don't exist when considering access to equipment behind the bridge. The only thing that may throw you is the external interface on Untangle needs an IP address that has internet connectivity. So just give it an unused IP on the segment with the Exchange server and go.
