I'm sorry! WMP is one of the most crippled beasts I have ever seen. It can't play anything but the most basic audio or video. It will also invoke the gods of DRM to tell you what you can and cannot enjoy. I abandoned it back in 1999.

Yeah, I agree that WMP pretty much SUCKS but I am also lazy, and it's just sort of there. So I'm reading this thread with great interest to see what others are liking a lot better.

Try FooBar 2000, and you'll think Winamp is doing something else with the llama.

FooBar 2000, trying it now. Listening to Trans Siberian Orchestra's lost christmas eve. Simple, uncluttered, found all my music files FAST!

Plus it has lots of options, you can get plugins and addons for it, and it doesn't bloat memory use like Winamp or WMP. TSO is interesting music. I found about them when somebody I worked with was playing some metal that I liked the sound of. He told me all of the names that the band members use, and the permutations when one person steps out and another steps in. They use a different band name when that happens. They're extremely talented people, and found a real good niche with their Xmas music.

I will have to look into the add ons too, can't take anything at face value .

I first heard TSO several years ago on the radio during Christmas and LOVED the sound. I like Christmas but the music was, well, stale to say the least. Then I hear TSO, x-mas music with a little attitude. My music tastes range from blues and jazz to heavy metal and hard rock, with all kids of things in between. TSO just fit for me, I love them and their christmas music.

My music styles are similar, though there are very few Christmas songs that I like. Gonna send you a PM as soon as I send this.

Older version of Winamp for my music..can't find anything better than milkdrop graphics while playing tunes. I remember way way back...with OpenGL and the first 3Dfx Voodoo cards..there was a plugin for Winamp...Dancing Coke Cans....some very cool animated graphics of dancing coca cola cans boppin to the music.

VLC for DVDs
YeOldeStonecat is online now
