    @alhadi

    Your welcome... I just read your other post and it sounds like EASEUS Todo Backup has all the features you are wanting... It will let you mount a disk and partition image to a virtual partition (working as ordinary, logical drives) to explore or copy files in it. It will let you explore, copy and restore files and folders directly from a backup image in Windows Explorer. And with universal restore, you can simplify system migration by the way of restoring system to dissimilar hardware configuration for hardware replacement.

    Hi everyone,

    It takes longer to backup images like 20 minutes whereas in Acronis it takes around 5-10 minutes depanding on the size of the data. This was just 12 GB. Also i found out that it won't do multicasting , which means i will not be able to deploy in 1 to many system at one time. so let me know if i am missing something or if you guys have some bright ideas .

    Thanks.

    That's good to know... I don't need my nightly backups taking any longer than they already do... It takes Acronis TI 2.5 hrs to backup my desktop over the network to my file server every night... Approx 130GB... I have it set to start at 4:15 am each morning and it finishes around 6:45 am...

    I could probably cut that time down considerably if I upgrade my network with Gigabit NICS, Switch, and Wireless Router... But can't afford it right now...

    I have used Clonezilla, Acronis and one not mentioned yet, Macrium http://www.macrium.com/. All have work well for me.

    I never heard of "Redo backup & recovery" looks interesting, and EASEUS "Todo Backup" I have heard of but never used before. Thanks for posting....

    I cannot imagine any crucial backup going across a 100m network these days. Gigabit switch prices are pretty reasonable now. You can often get used GB NICs very inexpensively through EBay too. If you don't want to upgrade your switch, consider adding in another NIC on the server & workstation and backing up through a "back door" network set up on a different subnet.

    @RBoynton

    In order to upgrade my home network, I would need new Gigabit NICS for 2 workstations, 1 file server, and the Untangle box (5 NICS Total)... Plus a New Gigabit Switch (8 port) and Gigabit Wireless Router/Access Point...

    The reason I need an 8 port switch is because I have a hobby business I run out of my home office in my spare time working on computers and I sometimes have 2 or more computers here working on them at the same time (Cleaning up viruses and other types of system cleanup and maintenance tasks mostly)...

    No need to update the AP/Router, as you'll never connect wirelessly at gigabit anyway. It is not terribly expensive to update the NICs & switch though. Obviously, your call on the value of doing this.
