Default New TCP-based spam detection filter

Naval researchers pioneer a SpamAssassin plugin that detects spam by TCP usage

Interesting. I wonder it this will be retrofitable to Untangle?

I would agree with the article and leave this type of filtering with the ISP...

I would also agree with you that mail system admins should/will filter how they will. I just wonder if were all using the same tool, what's the point?
We'd mark it as they would...maybe a [SPAM][SPAM] might better get the end user NOT to open it! Yeah, right...

Anyway, I'm sure Microsoft and Google already know who is generating the majority of spam, I believe when it's no longer lucrative it will become a trickle on it own...

"The software giant announced this week it plans to make available a real-time, hosted threat intelligence feed to security companies, government agencies and private industry as part of its efforts to share data concerning the origins of malware attacks. As proof that it's got the goods to help others, Microsoft points to its successful disruptions of the pernicious Waledac and Rustock botnets."
