Have exported DNS and used 192.168.10.2 and 192.168.11.2 (the two DNS servers) as DNS override.

The tracert from 192.168.10.2 (DNS Server on Win2003 Server) to 172.16.0.5:
Code:
192.168.10.1
172.16.0.5
An interesting note is that the server knows the name of my remote computer. It displays GATEWAY [176.16.0.5] for the last hop.

The tracert from 192.168.11.2 (DNS Server on Win2000 Server) to 172.16.0.5:
Code:
192.168.11.1
172.16.0.5
That's where I figure I'm missing something -- probably something obvious.

Thanks again for your help.

How is the firewall configured both on untangle and the DNS server.

Try to create a pass rule form VPN to Internal.

As others have said before -- you are the master!

The pass rule on the UT Box did it.

The only slightly annoying thing is that I have to add the .domain.local to the computer name, but I can live with that.

Thanks again

Np..
And if you want to get around using .domain.local.
Hit edit on the Tap interface and then Properties on "TCP/IP"
Then"Advanced" now look for the DNS tab.
Here you should be able to add a dns suffix. add (domain.local.)
All done :P
