    Default Can not connect

I set up UT as a openvpn server, accepting all the defaults, and creating a client with the default address pool.

    External IP static 1.2.3.4
    Internal static 192.168.0.1
    Default pool address 172.16.0.0/24

I am on my home network trying to connect. I am using Kvpnc and used the downloaded client configuration.

    I have two issues:

    1. I can't connect I get this error: ERROR: Linux route add command failed: shell command exited with error status: 2

    2. I can't use my network card for anything else, web, ping, etc.

The firewall has no set rules at the moment and is set to pass as the default action.

Sounds like a permissions issue on your client.

you need to be root or sudo to root to modify your routing table.

It often helps troubleshooting if you have a good network map. Look here if you want my advice on how to draw one.

It is not that as Kvpnc refuses to start up without root privileges.

    Check:

    http://wiki.untangle.com/index.php/O...nd_VPN_Clients

Then go to Step 3, the second bullet item, and step b.

You will see that it says to use the internal IP address for your VPN site. The 1.2.3.4 is a bogus address, and is the "default" there because Untangle can't know what address range you are going to use.

I put 1.2.3.4 in place of the external address. The internal address is set to 192.168.1.100 as it should be.
