OpenVPN as a proxy/NAT

Hey guys,

I would like to provide secure internet browsing to people overseas, where their providers may try to watch what sites the users visit.

I have a scenario in mind, please tell me if that would work or not? thank you!

I am planning on buying a 1U rack-mountable server with 2 NICs, both WANs. Both interfaces will have a public IP.

NIC 1 will be the publicly accessable for Client to Server connections, and NIC 2 will be setup with NAT.

Theoretically, each client will have to have a virtual IP address, via which they will interface with the NAT (NIC2) and thus be able to browse on behalf of the OpenVPN server's NIC2.

Does OpenVPN have a way to assign virtual LAN ips to Clients, and do NAT via NIC2 (wan2) ?????

Hi tacom6,

This forum is for the OpenVPN module in Untangle UTM firewall.
And OpenVPN in Untangle dose not support route through tunnel.

So with Untangle it will nog be possible.

What you are describing is very possible with OPENVPN. you dont even need the second NIC.
As to the how it would work with with untangle I am not sure as I am just very new Untangle, But I dont see why it wouldnt be possible.

Webfool: I don't quite understand what you mean when you say that Untangle does not support "route through tunnel"? once the Vpn connection has been made all that has to be properly configured is Routing on the Client side and NAT on the Server side.
Could. you elaborate on why exactly this could not be done with untangle?
