We put our NFR superbundle of UT into production in our office. I never used this feature before at any clients, but figure may as well start getting familiar with all features, and maybe even kick it off at other clients.
We rung Active Directory at our office, so a few Windows 03 servers. Naturally they're running DNS....and the DC is doing DHCP. I'm having a hunch Untangle wants to be DNS and DHCP for the LAN for this feature to work. On our static IP servers, which are sort of showing up in the available list, I go to connect to them...I see Java begin to launch..and then....nothing. Poof, disappears with some generic error. Latest Java installed. Servers are indeed set to answer RDP, and they do answer if I do mstsc /console from the LAN, or if I OpenVPN into the network from home. |

DHCP service is indeed disabled on UT. However...when we were first re-organizing our server cabinet in our office....when we initiall connected UT with our new internet connection, I intentionally left DHCP enabled on UT, and it was running DNS. For a few hours..as we rebuilt our server cabinet. I stuck my nose into the PC Remote section..and I saw that it has PCs populated in there, with proper netbios names 'n all. Being inside the office, I didn't try to connect. But as we brought our DCs and Exchange and other servers back online...I then shut off DHCP on Untangle, and naturally since it's active directory DHCP hands out the IP of the DC for DNS, so UT isn't being used for DNS by the network.
