Hello,
I have finally taken the plunge and installed Untangle. I have two mini-pc boxes from logic supply and have installed Untangle on each. I am installing each box in two separate locations...one at my house and one at my fathers business. I'm testing the PC Remote feature to see if it will help me support my father's PC's at his business, but I have to admit that I'm missing something that I'm hoping someone can clarify for me. So I've enabled Remote PC on my Dad's Untangle PC for a 14 day test run, but I can't see how to remote into my father's Untangle PC to administer his network of PC's? Do I VNC into his Untangle box to start the Remote PC and view his network or is there another way to remotely administer his PC's? Thanks in advance for your help! Charles. |

You don't have to VNC into your father's Untangle. Just connect to it's web interface and launch PC REMOTE.

Hello,
Sorry for being so thick...but I'm still missing something. So I have a Dyndns account setup for my father's office. It would seem from sky-knight's comment I would use https:dadsexternalip to log into his Untangle box, but what port do I use? I've read the technical documentation, but I don't see any reference to a port? Is this something that was set in the Untangle configuration and I've just missed seeing it? I've probably mislead you with my initial post. If I'm not at my father's office and need to use Remote PC to administer his office PC's, how to do I get to the PC Remote Gui? Thanks, Charles. |

Okay...I don't know how I missed this, but it's right there in the WIKI...how to setup remote access to the Untangle box. So I would set this up on my father's Untangle box, remote into it using my dyndns account and port 443, then start the Remote PC Gui to administer his PC's.
Would this be the correct way of administering his PC's? Thanks, Charles. |

Yes SSL (secure web) uses TCP port 443 by default. https://<untangleexternalip> or https://dyndnsname (if configured properly) will connect to your Dad's UT server on port 443.

And to add to what sky-knight said, use a "/webstart" on the end of the URL to get to the Remote Admin client. If you don't use that, you will be at a portal login, and will have to select the Server Administration option below the password box to get in.
