I've been reading a lot, and I can't find an answer to my problem.
I can do remote control (RDP and VNC) from the untangle server. Obviously I had to enable the RDP at the target machine, and had to install the TightVNC Server on the target machine as well... From my laptop, I can access the webui (from LAN and from outside). And I have access to the rack and all products. When I choose PC Remote (or Remote Access Portal) in order to do a Remote Control, I can do that Remote Control with RDP, but I cannot do it with VNC. It appears a dialog box asking for the password set at the tightVNC Server. I type it and nothing happens. This behavior happens either accessing the webui from LAN (local IP address) and from the WAN (Internet Address). In the LAN, I can run the TightVNC Viewer from my laptop and have remote control access to the target machine with no problems. It is only when I use the webui (rack/console). I've been reading that what I want to do (remote control from outside to internal PCs) it is possible. But I just can't make it work! I've been thinking of workaround, but I don't know if they work at all. 1. I have ssh access from Internet. Can I launch the webui from the ssh session? Since I can do remote control via VNC from within the untangle box, I think this is a good workaround. Is it possible? How? 2. Install TightVNC Server on untangle box. With the TightVNC Viewer have remote control of the untangle box and from there, have remote control of LAN PCs. This is almost the same case as the previous one. Is it possible? But above all this, I just want it to work as it should be! With a web browser! Please Help! Regards |

You can gain remote control to the untangle box by two means:
1. gaining access to the terminal prompt through secure shell or telnet: You can use putty or WinSCP to do so. 2. gaining access to the web user interface using a web browser. Since you said you don't have a "global" (valid) IP address, you have to configure your router/firewall to do a port forwarding. What type of ISP do you have? T1? DSL? ADSL? What type of router, modem, or firewall do you user to receive Internet? Regards! |
