Just upgraded to:
Build: 9.1.0~svn20111209r30408release9.1-1lenny Java: 1.6.0_20 Now I cannot delete or disable any of my Policy Rules in policy manager (which happen to be No Rack rules if that matters). Tried restarting the untangle-vm and then did a whole reboot of the server. No luck. Everytime I uncheck the box or hit the delete button and then apply/ok the screen refreshes with the rules still there and checked on. Any ideas or terminal fu I can use? Additionally I am unable to add new rules as well |

UPDATE: Turns out this is a new "feature" of Untangle. As they are now charging for the Policy Manager you must first remove the policy manager from your rack. Then when you go to the top and select "Show Policy Manger" under the Default Rack drop down menu you are able to Create, Edit, and Remove Policies.
I'm super appreciative of all the hard work you guys have put into this free software and especially appreciative of all the support you provide on these forums. I am curious though as to whether or not Untangle plans on moving free features to paid ones with further updates. Thanks again for a great product. |

wha?
Policy Manager has always been a paid app, and furthermore there are no changes related to that in 9.1. http://wiki.untangle.com/index.php/9.1_Changelog Maybe you're referring to us removing "No Rack" abilities back in 7.x a few years back? That has nothing to do with free/paid. Those have been obsoleted by bypass rules in config->networking->advanced->bypass rules.

The policy manager has never been free. But, in the past you could actually make policies for free. You simply couldn't make new racks. That said, the process of creating policies was considered non-free even then, and part of the paid policy manager functionality. It was simply allowed because of the realities of using Untangle back then.
After the Spam module was adapted to no longer need the SMTP no rack policy, and bypass rules were deemed more efficient than no rack policies, the policy manager was completely removed from the "free" Untangle. There was PLENTY of notice for these changes, and if a unit is still in service and suffering from odd conditions, I submit it has been in service long enough to warrant reinstallation and manual reconfiguration. There is a similar condition with the branding manager, if you go back far enough to get the old java UI back, and use the key strokes to activate it. Changes made become permanent once the branding manager rack application requires a license. This edge case is also handled via reinstallation.
